Trade Representative from Pennsylvania says their meeting with Foxconn’s chairman shows progress. They say Foxconn is interested in investing more in Pennsylvania but they do not reveal any details since there will be another meeting with the company.
It is not sure whether the investment will focusing on a new Giga factory which will be used to manufacturer future iPhone, iPad, and MacBook. But some says it would cost Apple half of its capital to build its factory.
It is also said the cost of Apple might double up due to the increase of labor cost (unless they use robots) which might require Foxconn to bring their expertise from China. But it is possible for the United States to have their home made product separated from the rest of the world.
