It is reported that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has completed the design for Apple next generation 10nm A11 chip. The new processor is expected to achieve certification process at the end of 2016 before being validated by the first quarter of 2017. If everything is okay, the new A11 chip is ready for production by the second quarter in the same year, and it is expected the chip will be used for the iPhone 7s. With the smaller size chip, the new A11 processor will consume less energy and at the same time provide more processor power for the iPhone.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has recently begun to tape out the design for Apple’s A11 processor built on a 10nm FinFET process, according to industry sources – DigiTimes
Apple has awarded TSMC to be the only manufacturer to produce their A11 chip. Although their factory was affected by the last earthquake, they quickly get back on their feet to prove themselves as a reliable vendor for Apple.
