After Apple, WhatsApp Now Under Fire

After Apple, WhatsApp now under fire over encryption when the court asked them to decrypt messages tapped by investigators from the application. Previously, a federal judge has approved the investigators to wiretap in an ongoing case. But they information they got is useless, and they require WhatsApp to decrypt it for them.

WhatsApp cannot provide information we do not have

Compare to Apple case, all information available on Apple’s servers will be hand over to the authorities if the requested parties have court orders. The latest case on WhatsApp is similar to Facebook when their senior executive jailed for not handover asked information. WhatsApp uses end-to-end encrypted communication. It means only the sender and recipient able to view the message.  whatsapp_end_to_end
